With major A-List Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez Signing on, here’s what it’s all about…

The statistics are nothing short of astounding. According to a Pew research report released in 2015, nearly two-thirds of American adults of all ages use social networking sites, up from the documented 7 percent when Pew Research Center began methodically tracking social media usage in 2005. Such reports have documented in great detail how the rise of social media has affected our daily lives in everything from work and politics , to communication patterns, not to mention parenting, dating and even personal stress levels. It’s a fact that the way we obtain and share information has drastically changed with the rapid uptick in social media usage.

An analysis of more than 25 surveys across America over the past decade shows that age is tied strongly to social media. Those of us who are 18 to 29 are the most likely users by a substantial margin, and growth continues to surge in that age group. But, at the same time there has been an enormous 69-point bump in middle-aged Americans, from 8 percent in 2005 to 77 percent today. The 65 and older crowd has seen a rise in social media usage from a low of 2 percent in 2005 compared to the current 35 percent. And that number is also growing.

Following are some interesting numbers to consider:

  1. Over 91 percent of retail brands use two or more social media channels
  2. Consider that the Internet has 3.17 billion active users worldwide.
  3. Of that 3.17 billion, 2.3 billion are active social media customers.
  4. Consumers who use social media have on average 5 social media accounts per person. Though they may not use each account on a regular basis, it’s a fairly substantial number.
  5. Users have risen by 176 million in the past year alone.
  6. I million new active mobile social users are added each day to the growing number.
  7. And here’s the kicker; there are over 1 billion active mobile social accounts worldwide.

So what does all this mean for the companies that are social media? Obviously the stats are good news for entities both large and small. Because Social media sites are among the most visited on the Internet, and advances motivated by social media without doubt have far-reaching repercussions for the marketplace as a whole, smaller companies are well positioned for acquisition by the giants in the sector.

Examples? Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) bought Vine for $970 million. Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) snapped up WhatsApp for a hefty $19 billion, a company that had only ever hit a $1.5 billion valuation, and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MFST) purchased Yammer for a cool $1.2 billion. And Internet dating sites and apps are right in the mix. Match Group Inc. owner, IAC/InterActiveCorp (NASDAQ: IAC), acquired OKCupid for $50 million and at the time,  OKCupid had only 3.5 million active users.

Enter Friendable Inc. (OTC – PINK: FDBL), a small player extremely well placed for potential acquisition by one of the big boys. Formerly iHookup Social Inc. and founded in 2013, it is unarguably one of the best in a series of mobile apps that makes it painless to make genuine connections with people in your area, with a “No Pressure” focus on “Friendship First”. The genius here is that everything revolves around the “NOW” or future, as opposed to sharing the past, such as users of Facebook do. Friendable is CREATING the content that will eventually be posted or shared through a Facebook post or on a timeline, all local and in the palm of your hand.

Its application allows mobile users to meet new folks by creating a “Friendable for” event or activity (Coffee, Hiking, Concert etc.), and invite one person or many to hang out with existing friends or find new ones. The location recommendations allow users to explore venues and interact in social activities based around shared “Friendable” interests that are location specific, converting mobile interactions into real-life social experiences. The app acts as a both a friend finder and concierge using nearby locations to identify “Friendable” activities, events and venues which provide the entertainment users are seeking.

Friendable is positioned to engage in hyper-local advertising as the population density of its user base continues to grow, which will enable local venues and consumer brands to offer incentives to a network of socially active mobile users. It offers private one on one chat, enables users to send virtual gifts, and share photos and videos. In addition, Friendable integrates “Google Places” into their technology offering lookups and recommendations of nearby hot spots, movies and restaurants making it easy to get together for a social outing, or the user can simply suggest one of their own choosing. The mobile app then provides the details and directions of these meet up locations.

Although Friendable is social and has a mantra that “Everything starts with Friendship”, the company also crosses over into the dating vertical quite well. The app can be used to just meet up and hang out with one person or many; how you choose to use it is up to you. The options are limitless. How easy is that? Extremely easy when you take into account that downloads of the app have already surpassed the one million mark. The app is available in the Apple iTunes App Store, and for Android users via the Google Play Store.

Users can now:

  • Sign in and connect using Facebook, the world’s largest social network.
  • Utilize the company’s new proprietary location database connected to Google Places.
  • Enjoy an all-new registration and onboarding process, making the signup process faster and simpler.
  • Dial in an event, using selectors that are now icon based, adding ease and charm to each action.

For investors, the company has, without doubt, already started to attract the attention of major players in the social media arena and looks as though it is ripe for an acquisition at some point in the future.  Learn more at!
