U.S. stocks closed slightly higher before the Christmas weekend and Monday trading holiday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied 0.07%, the S&P 500 climbed 0.13%, and the Nasdaq jumped 0.28% on Friday, December 23, 2016. Turning to commodities, crude oil rallied 0.28% and gold saw gains of 0.21%. However, silver prices fell 0.51% on Friday.

Micro-cap stocks finished the week on a high note, as nine of the ten indices saw gains on Friday. Leading the micro-cap rally was the OTCQX Banks Index, which is likely seeing bullish action from the recent interest rate hike and the prospect of easing financial regulations in the New Year. The OTCQX Canada Index was the only loser on the day, which closed down 0.47% during today’s trading.
