Since the November elections, the markets have been on an incredible run higher. Even in recent months, stocks have seemed like there was nothing that could spark a sell-off. However, reality came crashing down on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, as traders could no longer ignore the continued turmoil out of Washington. Overall, the Dow Jones declined 1.78%, S&P 500 dove 1.82%, and Nasdaq dropped 2.57%, during trading on Wednesday. Despite the equity sell-off, oil remained strong and gold saw its safe haven status shine: crude oil rallied 0.68%, gold jumped 1.89%, and silver climbed 0.64%.

Unfortunately, micro-cap indices were not immune from the meltdown on Wednesday, as all ten indices declined today. This includes seven of the ten indices, which saw declines greater than 1%. The worst performing index was the OTCQX Canada, which dove 1.61%.
